Deleted files and lost or formatted partitions
These files can usually be recovered within 24-48 hours providing that they have not yet been completely overwritten. Aussie PC Fix uses advanced software methods and data recovery programs to extract the data without ever writing to the drive ensuring the best chance to recover or unerase your data.
Whether the files are damaged due to accidental deletion, virus attack, or they just disappeared, Aussie PC Fix can help you get your data back quickly, and at a reasonable cost. Files are not actually deleted when you click on delete or empty the recycle bin, it is only their index entry that gets changed saying "file is ok to overwrite" and the actual overwriting may occur at any time.
You may work for months without the data being written over, or it could happen the next time you save a file or even start up Windows. Recovering data after the file has been written over with new data is quite a challenge and often it requires costly equipment which is prohibitively expensive.
To make sure we focus on recovering the the data you need, please provide us with a list of the important files, e.g. via our Online Booking Form. This should list as many details you can remember about the files/data to recover - especially its name, file type (e.g. ".doc" / Word Document), and which folder/directory it was in, as well as any relevant dates.

By using and writing to the drive, this may overwrite the exact files you are trying to recovery and make recovery by an expert much harder, too costly, or even impossible. |

A search and diagnostic fee of $80 plus $20 call-out fee if applicable is payable upon receipt of the drive from you, which is payable regardless of the outcome of recovery. If recovery is successful then an additional fee of $80 or $160 fee is payable depending on the difficulty and time spent on recovery. In some special circumstances, recovery fees will cost more - you will be notified before any diagnosis if this would occur in your case.
If software/logical recovery is not possible by Aussie PC Fix then the drive may be sent, at your request, to an advanced hardware recovery specialist located interstate for diagnosis. This will usually occur no extra fees but additional fees can apply for RAID or other complex setups.
Windows Boot Failure / Corrupt files / Missing Drive
Sometimes Windows will not start up or the hard drive refuses to boot up, e.g. with a Missing NTLDR error. This is often caused by corrupt or missing startup files on the hard drive which often just need to be replaced, but sometimes a boot failure is caused because the hard drive is failing.
Once recovery is complete, the health condition of the hard drive should be examined and if vital signs are low then the entire drive should be immediately backed up to an alternate disk drive. Windows can also show errors or warnings during startup - if it warns you of S.M.A.R.T. hardware failure, then please backup and replace the drive immediately!
Corrupt files can be very difficult to process because part of the file is missing which can make it hard to identify, let alone open up to read in the associated application. We can use automated software techniques to analyse your data and extract the recoverable information.
We can often recover files and data from your hard disk even if the drive or partition does not receive a drive letter in Windows, or does not show in Disk Management.
STOP errors 0x0000002E 0x00000077 0x0000007A 0x000000ED 0xC0000221 are common Windows Blue Screen errors which can indicate hard drive errors or file corruption.

Onsite Data Recovery $160+
Data recovery services can also be performed on site, but may not be as effective as drop-off/pickup service. Instant, simple, diagnosis can be performed but advanced diagnostics and recovery can take many hours, so removal of the drive or taking the computer back to our workshop is preferred in these cases.
Minimum onsite charge for diagnosis is $160 including callout fee. Additional time will be charged at our current rates of $80 per hour and data recovery may take multiple visits where a call out of fee $20 is charged per visit.

Hardware / Mechanical / Physical Recovery
Hard Drive Failure / Head Crash $400-$1000+
If your hard drive does not power up at all or is making strange clicking noises then this could indicate a physical or mechanical error with the drive, which cannot be repaired without opening the drive. Other signs of physical failure include start-stop-start of the drive or intermittent access/strange pauses in Windows.
The hardware recovery procedure must be performed in a special air filter room called a 100 class clean room that is dozens of times cleaner than a hospital operating room, while the recovery specialist need to wear space-like protective suits! This environment is expensive to set up and maintain, and the data recovery experts also need to use highly specialist equipment so this procedure can unfortunately get expensive very quickly.
Aussie PC Fix can offer you a substantial discount of up to 10% for these services because of our relationships with data recovery partners. Aussie PC Fix only use hard drive manufacturer certified recovery centres which are located in Brisbane and Sydney, but local Canberra drop off or pickup is available through us.
Most hardware recovery jobs sent to a clean room start from $400-$1000, but advanced hardware recovery can quickly climb to a cost over one thousand dollars. Aussie PC Fix examines all disks before sending away to save you huge costs in the event that specialist hardware recovery is not actually needed.
